I still remember that one troll that joined up just to say how much he hated the Beatles and other "classic" 60s bands. I just said, "let's get high and listen to the Doors".

Unfortunately the troll was banned before much fun could ensue.

I give my indifferent opinion in regards to the music, respecting other's musical preferences......so long as they give me the same respect.

Personally ,I do not care what others think about the music I enjoy or any other view points. It has never had any out come on what I listen to or how I think but at the same time I don't like being disrespected...like what you like and don't like what I like.... it's all good... it has no baring on my opinions or my feelings toward that person.

However, I don't like people talking down to me so I try not to state my opinions in an overt pushy way but TBH if I feel others are treading on my preferences I tend to tread back a small bit.

This is the internet though so I don't really get involved in "fights" much so long as it isn't some kind of WAY over top crap directed at me. No sense fighting with someone on the web the way I see it as anyone can get away with being a total jack ass if there is no accountability.

With that in mind I laugh off peoples aggression on the web and try to maintain an even easy going disposition but on that same note I am not scared of anyone saying "bad" things to me ..why should I be ?

It has no effect on my life.

^^Indeed, I feel the same way about "Keyboard Cowboys", doesn't take any intestinal fortitude to insult someone from the safety of your locked room.

I enjoy the give and take of a good discussion/exchange, even if both parties leave with the same opinions they had going in.

Treat people the same way you want to be treated and usually you will enjoy yourself, no matter what you are doing.(Combat, hockey, football etc., are the exceptions of course, in that case it's survival of the fittest.)

Just don't take it too seriously and it doesn't matter. No one is going to agree w/ anyone 100% ....people who expect that everyone they talk w/ should always think like they think ,like what they like or they get angry and disown them need to grow up, IMO.

I agree, I dont normally take them seriously but when it gets to the point of being called a music snob then it gets on my nerves a lot.

Rolling into a genre, band, album or song thread just to say "this sucks" and "that sucks" is out of line and I'm glad our bigwigs here don't tolerate it

However, I'm not afraid to drop into a thread and say I don't like something or I am not a fan of something. The difference is that I do it nicely and in a manner that won't distract or derail an otherwise good conversation. I also make damn sure I'm educated enough about the band to form an opinion before dropping in with that opinion. If I am going to say "I never really liked this", I generally will only do so if I have heard at least 7-8 songs from the artist or if I've owned one or more of their albums before.

Constructive criticism can be very harmless if the person giving it has any sort of forum etiquette. If everyone agreed with everyone, there'd be no need to have a forum.
