1-How big is it(cds, vinyl, downloads etc)(Include display pics etc if you want.)
about 800 vinyls (had over 1000 at one time actually the down to about 750 gotten a bunch free last few years), 3000+ cds, 20+ DVDs, little box of 45's, a few 78's from in the 30's- 40's. now take most of the vinyls, a case of 200 vinyls on mp3 cd's (collection of over 2000albums) another 200+ cd's of bootleg live albums. Most of this has been converted and imported into itunes along with lots of other purchased downloads which shows 45,000 songs
2-Is there stuff you have not played(how much)
A bunch of promotional cd's and a bunch of the collection of 2000 albums although I've listened to at least one song of all of them. Note plenty of stuff I've not listened to in 20 years. I've got the first 5 Led Zep albums and never listen to them
3-Do you buy your music or do you take the odd frebbie download from blogs.
well in the 70's and early 80's I taped off the radio and bought vinyls
In the 90's I traded live bootlegs and bought cds.
In the 2000's I made contacts in the music business, went to tons of promotional live shows, parties, music events and received lots of free or cheap stuff. Used the information to buy cds, downloads from blogs ( friends blogs) and band sites.
In 2010's- purchase downloads, receive free promotional stuff, still find legal free downloads and listen to spotify.
4-How much per month do you think you spend
In the 90's $100 monthly but under 15 concerts a year
In the 00's - $50 cd but over 75 concerts a year
In 10's - $25 on music and 35 concerts
5-Is your collection out of control and growing like a monster
I moved in November- Yes
6-How many chances do you give a purchase(eg 3 goes)
depends on the music and if it was a favorite band already or something new. I can also re-address stuff after seeing them live at a festival.
7-Do you have stuff that you do not like(eg part of a bands discography)
Yes bands I once liked, promotional stuff I didn't like and a bunch of stuff from the 80's and 90's that I bought blindly because no internet and crappy radio.
8-Do you sell off parts of your collection from time to time.
Just some vinyls back in early 00's. Now I want it all!!! No wife, no roommates and home owner.
9-Please feel free to say anything else.
Great set of questions!
