Right, here goes...I must admit most on here could well and really put my limited collection to shame.
I must also confess I predominantly listen to music on iTunes - this is partly because I often listen to music while using the computer (I'm listening to Echoes as I type this) and I enjoy making my own playlists. I am strongly in favour of listening to albums as a whole, but I appreciate the ability to be able to pick out strong tracks from weak albums. However, I have made a point of buying the main Pink Floyd albums on CD (Meddle, Dark Side, Wish You Were Here and The Wall) so I can play them on the hi-fi at home - I do have a stack of blank CDs though as well so I can burn my purchases onto disc if I want.
I realise I should probably have put this in the 'feel free to say anything else' section, but I felt I needed to explain this before answering the main questions.
1-How big is it(cds, vinyl, downloads etc)(Include display pics etc if you want.)
My iTunes library presently consists of 440 songs - not massive I know, but still quite a bit bigger than it was not so long ago. I've uploaded pretty much all the songs I like from my family's CD collection (there might be some good stuff that as yet I haven't discovered, I don't know), so am largely conducting my own exploring via iTunes and Youtube.
2-Is there stuff you have not played (how much)
I have three or four songs on my library which I have never played although I am very much familiar with those tracks - I uploaded them from albums which I thought I liked more than I did, I guess.
3-Do you buy your music or do you take the odd frebbie download from blogs.
I always buy my music and have never illegally downloaded it.
4-How much per month do you think you spend.
Varies a lot, partly depending on my enthusiasm for discovering new songs, and how much I like the tracks I have listened to, but it rarely exceeds £25, and is usually more likely to be about £15.
5-Is your collection out of control and growing like a monster.
Definitely not out of control, but it is growing - this time last year I only had about 260 songs, and I only started listening to music seriously less than 2 years ago (I actually didn't own an ipod until Christmas 2011).
6-How many chances do you give a purchase (eg 3 goes)
Difficult to say as I tend to like to be sure that I like a song before purchasing/uploading - the number of times I listen to a song prior to doing this can vary, sometimes I add a song after just one listen (although this is almost invariably if the song is by a band I already like), others I listen to several times before 'committing'.
7-Do you have stuff that you do not like (eg part of a bands discography)
I have a few songs by bands that I no longer like much which I uploaded before I really started to get into classic rock music. I may delete some of these songs once I pass the 500 track mark (soon hopefully) - however I've unticked most of them so they appear on my iTunes but not on my ipod. I don't enjoy all of my classic rock tracks equally, choosing Meddle for instance I regard Echoes far more highly than I regard Seamus, but there isn't anything I actually dislike.
8-Do you sell off parts of your collection from time to time.
No, I have far too few CDs to consider selling and it isn't really possible to sell iTunes files.
9-Please feel free to say anything else.
One advantage I find from buying music on iTunes is that I can effectively chose my own 'lead single' from an album which I can then listen to before deciding to buy the whole album - for example I was introduced to 'Free Bird' by Lynyrd Skynyrd which provided a platform for me to go on to listen to and purchase their full debut album - I like being able to get a foot in the door before deciding whether I like the band enough to start discovering their work further or whether I just like one or two songs.
