This is the FIRST band I was EVER in called VOYCE!

I started off as a drummer and the singer that I always wanted would never commit. As time went on, and one more band later (that I also drummed for) I was asked to step down from drums and just become a singer. As that was getting better, more so than my drumming.

However, this clip was sent to me on Facebook by an old neighborhood friend, or a friend of a friend, who I'm told is a member of this forum too!

They filmed our entire town's 100th Anniversary back in 1983.

This band VOYCE, had some great metal tunes, all original, but were a little green in the performance end. But I really enjoyed seeing this again. What a trip. To see one self as a minor IN MOTION. I mean not everyone had a camera 30 years ago. So Sweeeeet!

Anyway for what it's worth, here's METALPRIEST on drums and vocals along with my buddies Ray, Jeff and Rocker Tom doing Anvil Straights at our town's 100th Anniversary Fest!

Again I was 17 here, my buddy Tom was like 15-16 and the other guys are closer to my age...at the time

Wow, it really sounds great! Not a lot of drummers can keep on time and sing at the same time. It was the time, when metal hit America, wasn't it? :D
I like the tune.

Metal was always here, but this is a couple years into the NWOBHM and all that (and this song shows that). This was also an industrial town, steel mills ect. It had that whole vibe.

Lots of denim and leather.

My voice wasn't what it would become yet, but I am diggin' the ultra high scream at the end. :oyea:

I hope it sounds pretty clear, I mean I know the song, so I'm not getting lost between changes or anything.

But if you notice there are NO monitors...the two guitar amps were on either sides of the satge. No stage monitors (which is a flat bed)....

The PA, if you can call it that, was face forward for audience only really. So I was getting bounce back off the buildings and not much more.

The guitar players couldn't hear themselves and you can see our bass player's confusion a bit there too, as he's in between them. He walks over to one guitar player searching for direction and making sure we're all on time.

We couldn't hear a thing except our own individual instruments. :heheh:

METAL troopers!! :grinthumb

Pretty cool man, I totally recognize your voice on that. It's not the same as it is now or has been for years, but it's definitely distinguishable as you. :grinthumb

So, how did this video suddenly surface?

Ya know, one of my facebook friends, whoe's from the old hood, has been posting videos he made back in 83 and earlier of our town.

Almost as if he knew that one day these videos would make great memories.

Our old grammar school, inside and out, old teachers he interviewed, the park, the main strips and stores...I mean wow.

The festivals in town as well...and he told me that one had a band on it. I said wouldn't it be funny if the band was me, as I played the 100th Anniversary fest.

(But alot of different type of acts did...not just rock bands)

He was like, maybe, I dunno.

Sure enough, he had more footage of the 100th annivarsary fest, and BINGO, I was all....THAT'S ME! Holy S***!!! :pullhair:

:oyea:

I pointed out to him that my brother is in it too....in a longer video...behind the flatbed while another act is on...and he was like, Boy I hit a goldmine with this one.

I'm like, you sure did!! Made my day! :grinthumb

That's funny. A few years before my time. Thank you for making me feel young today. :heheh: I'm kidding. But wow that is some cool stuff. You were probably rockin' since you were a little one. :grinthumb
