Yeah, not a bad start at all. You have a lot of cool new experiences ahead of you. I really envy someone who hasn't heard a lot of a band like Yes before and is just getting into them.

I heard that when Rush was on their Caress of Steel tour they caught a Yes show and felt hopeless that they would ever achieve such musical heights. I don't know if the story was true and I even disagree with the sentiment but hell...Imagine trying to follow a band like Yes.
Utterly fear inducing if your intention is to achieve even close to that state of perfection.

I don't understand how anyone can say that Starship Trooper is not the best song ever written and performed?

It is one of their most beloved songs Cannons Ahoy...but I wouldn't rate it as the best song ever written or performed.

Then again if that's how you feel about Starship Trooper that's all that matters in the end.:cheers2

I think the wurm part of that song is on a Tomorrow album (Steve Howe's pre Yes band). It's a cool tune but it works a lot better in Starship Trooper.

It might be my favorite as well. But it is very difficult to choose especially when they also wrote albums like Going for the One.

My favorite Yes album is Relayer. Then, in no particular order:

The Yes Album
Drama
Fragile
Fly From Here

I can remember the day I bought Relayer, played it two or three times then put in on the shelf for ages.

A few years ago I gave it another listen, and enjoyed it but it would never be my pick of the Yes litter, Fragile has that distinction.;)
