Just curious but am I the only one who dislikes what I call third tier hard rock/metal bands.
There are many of these and I notice that some of the members seem to post them a lot in the 'what are you listening to' thread.
I mentioned before that there are so many interesting good rock bands (of various styles) that I wonder why people bother with the others that to me are simply derivative and have nothing new to offer.
Am I just a music snob as my daughter and grandaughter think?

This is a thoughtful thread, at first I would of automatically reeled of genres of music I don't like. Then I thought of my daughter and her husband, the songs they like which are not so genres toxic but are songs of my accepted genres but just 'not good boring songs' for my taste... There are genres like Rap, Grime where on most material I simply switch off. I was brought up on old style Rock'n Roll, 60's music and hard melodic rock. I love Led Zep to Nightwish. However I find Metallica totally boring and unmusical apart from their one song 'Nothing Else Matters' (why can't their rest of their material be so melodic?) Also I can't listen to Foo Fighters- alot of noise and guitar thrashing with no musical substance whatsover. However lately I have been getting into Judas Priest, absolutely love Turbo Lover, Breaking The Law and their three great covers of Diamonds and Rust written by Joan Baez. Also most of Indie Rock is so boring, for me it's like a diluted version of Rock with nothing new to offer; we all heard it before in a much better musically version with lovel beats and rhythms.

As I got older I was drawn to various genres of music from around the world and I still wonder will there be a new yet undiscovered genre of music where we all will get wild over the novelty of the sound of it...?

I have never been drawn to hard core country, hard core rap, or hard core metal.
I can listen to variations of those toned down a bit though they are not on my playlist.

I've never understood why someone would want to listen to Judas Priest, Scorpions, or Def Leppard when you've already got better more intersting bands like Zeppelin, Deep Purple, and Black Sabbath.
My guess it's a generational thing based on when someone grew up with what was on the radio then.
But for me there's only so much time in the day to listen (when I was young....) and why not go for the best of the best?
:dunno:

ALL Rap, thrash/death metal, ALL Girl/Boy bands, and Industrial music ( its not music )...not one of them do i consider a musical art form.
