I respect that all music takes some form of skill, but I hate pop, jam bands, and today's mainstream music as a whole.

I agree about Jam Bands for my taste! Unless I was stoned or just wanted to make sure I had one continuous song guaranteed to still be playing while I ate breakfast, lunch, dinner, took a shower, took a Van Winkle nap, used the facilities, read a book (War and Peace), ran a marathon, etc. and have that one song still be playing with no rhyme or reason I really don't see myself ever getting into that genre!

I personally don't like a folk music much nor loud yelling metal stuff.

You hit one of my favorite genres! Most of my 2,000's list is filled with great folk styled artist like Damien Rice, Ryan Adams, David Ford, Foreverinmotion, etc. Sunny might have exposed you to some of them!
