Now granted I haven't listened to a lot of my 2014 collection as in depth as I could yet so this could change but besides the meg Myers EP which will easily take number one this album has really greeat odds of being my favorite 2014 album. It really holds elements of two of my favorite groups in The Smashing Pumpkins and Jimmy Eat World! Beautiful stuff!

Have to give a shout out to an album that's going to be very high on my 2014 list:

I don't know what it is but I'm hooked on this album. It's the most personal, descriptive piece of acoustic storytelling i've heard with a strong prominent voice that is a mix of Beck and Adam Duritz (Counting Crows). Strongly recommended for any lovers of folk storytelling new and old. It's got a theme strongly centered on family and I think that's where a lot of the personal appeal is right now. :)

I have the album "April", which I haven't listened to for ages, although I remember liking it! I'll have to dig that one out again. I haven't heard the new one yet, but I've listened to the songs you've posted and they do sound good. I'll have to check the full album out!

It's my first Sun Kil Moon even though I've heard of them prior. It's a journey man. The first listen I had was based on one song and the aesthetic musical layers don't really get added on until the end of the album which is some cool weird stuff. The first listen is kind of "I'm not sure if this works" but after another listen it comes together. The stories, the random details he gives and the sincerity makes it quite the story to hear. Musically it's just strong, melodic and powerful but you have to sink into it. Once you do it's just brilliant. :)

Hey Sooty it's nice to see you've started listening to Sun Kil Moon. One of my favorite bands I love to listen to in the mornings. I think Benji is pretty good album and it's probably his most depressing/blunt lyrically and has some beautiful songs like Carissa and I Can't Live Without My Mother's Love. I do find myself skipping past some of the songs, but some of those have been steadily growing on me. Benji is beautiful, raw, unusual at times, but I definitely recommend people around here give it a chance and check out the rest of the other albums too :grinthumb

New discovery! I LIKE this! Classy, sultry and fresh sounding! Sounds like an old classic Jazz singer in a modern pop indie band! Catchy, breezy and soulful! :)
