I like Young The Giant's 'It's About time' and loving the style of Meg Myers. Wiki says her debut EP is available for free download on her website but I just checked and seems I missed the boat there 289haj8.jpg

Aaaaaw that sucks! I own the physical copy of Megs first EP and I wrote on her facebook asking if the second would be physical and they said it would be. It seems like they are taking their time building Megs fan base which is pretty cool. I do like EPs. I hope they aren't afraid to pull the plug and try a full album. If they wait too long she might lose the momentum she's making. A free download is always good when you are warming up to an artist but if you do get to liking her more and more I'm sure the EP cost won't be to strenuous. :)

I like the Young The Giant singles. I have high expectations with this one. Their prior album surprised me with how much i liked it. I only got it because Best Buy had it for four bucks a year or two after it was released. I don't see the new singles burrowing into my head for good like the perfect singles, "My Body" and "Cough Syrup" but they are quality! :grinthumb

I'll definitely be buying the new Within Temptation album, and from the few tracks I've heard from it so far reckon it's going to be a scorcher :)

I'll have to listen to more Meg Myers and may well end up making a purchase or two :D

I almost always buy a new Beck release! My streak since "Mellow Gold" has only two omissions (Midnight Vultures and modern Guilt). My favorite Beck is Sea Changes which is a beautiful dark folk album. This new single seems like it's more in that vein than anything that's come since that album. I'm excited! :grinthumb

Oh wow, I saw a 2 disc from Within Temptation that have them covering these pop songs! That sounds insane but for me will be worth the extra money! :grinthumb

1. Radioactive (Originally By Imagine Dragons)
2. Summertime Sadness (Originally By Lana Del Rey)
3. Let Her Go (Originally By Passenger)
4. Dirty Dancer (Originally By Enrique Iglesias)

While lacking an original name this group have a very authentic 60's garage rock sound with the youth (16-18) to really give themselves the youthful energy to stand out among the revivalist. These guys have a particular affectation for The Beatles. Not a lot of the revivalist have been as ballsy and they add a lot more volume and punk edge as to not be a clone. I just discovered these guys and will likely listen to the full 2013 album and place it in the appropriate thread but I dare all of you to listen to these four songs from the 2014 EP and not rock out to it! Seriously, I never say the word rock out! Dooooo iiiiiit! :heheh:

I've been a fan of the band since they were just a small relatively unknown band - I had a dutch friend who recommended them back then. I still consider "Mother Earth" one of my favourite metal albums ever and I have really enjoyed everything they've released, even accepted the changes and thought "The Unforgiven" was brilliant, but after hearing a couple of songs of "Hydra", I am still not so convinced. It's the first time I am considering listening to the whole thing first, before I decide whether to buy it or not.

So since you have a wider scope of the band than I do what would you say is the difference this time around? :)

I've heard the track with Howard Jones and the track with Tarja, I do not like any of them. I'm not a fan of Howard Jones at all and although I do like Tarja's solo stuff (not a fan of Nightwish, except their debut album), I don't like the duet. Tarja's voice does not go well with most people (I am sure a lot of people will disagree, that's just my opinion). Seeing Xzibit being a guest on the album does not exactly help excite me either, haha!

Yeah, I'm not against rap/rock collaborations. They are almost exactly 50/50 on whether they work or not. Xhibit and Within Temptation is a reeeaaally particularly odd choice though! :heheh: I like the singles you mentioned and though I was never a Killswitch Engage fan I do like Howard Jones when he actually sings like he does in that Within Temptation song. You are the first Within Temptation fan I've met aside from me who's not a huge fan of Nightwish as well. I like some Nightwish but I much prefer Within Temptaion and they are who I follow. I can kind of see what you are saying with tarja. It's a little jarring having a vocalist join a band that already kind of sings the same type of music. It's like what's the point? :heheh:

Here are some great new acts that I've found thus far through friends, social networking and surfing:

I don't think I've heard a better chorus in a rock song in a looooong time. It's fantastical and enchanting. This Swedish band has a lot of potential! :grinthumb
