Autumn 1990: A little dive bar in Fort Erie, Ontario that was bursting to the seams every Saturday night. I don't even remember how we found out about it, or whose idea it was to go. We were all 19 or 20 though; legal drinking age in Canada, but 3 years shy in the US.
Met a guy there; My friend asked him for a cigarette for me. I thanked him with a suprise make-out session right there at his table, no words spoken! We dated for about three months, then lost touch. I still think about him, and that place, whenever I hear early Melissa Etheridge or this John Cougar song, which they inexplicidly played every week, without fail:
