Re: VIRGIN STEELE more epic power

It would make sense for you to like anything you like..I'm just not a big Steve Perry or Journey fan, and personally don't hear a connect. But that doesn't matter, music is individual to everyone. If you hear a connect so be it. I just had to give you bit of a nug, being the hard headed,"metal head "that I am.

Like I said, it wasn't anything to be taken serious....

I have a good idea of your humor at this point DKW! :heheh: I do know that I have acquired some enjoyment of heavier bands since certain users have dedicated their time to it. On my terms though or I'd be bullshitting. :heheh: I guess I was wondering just barely if there's an element that connects While Heaven Wept and Virgin Steele so I knew what bands to look into further. With Grooveshark, Spotify and Youtube nothing's off limits listening wise so it's easier to listen to full albums to see what I like and if I don't then no loss. Oh, and I remember a song by Nevermore I believe you posted that I really liked as well. I'm not sure my style of metal but I really like the melodies and dynamics in all of those! :grinthumb

Re: VIRGIN STEELE more epic power

I'd say both are similar in that fact that they both a symphonic, and a progressive element to their music. And of course both are metal bands. So yeah, if that's what you like there are plenty of metal bands that have some degree of progressive orchestration going on. Outside of that they also have alot of differences so it is hard to pin down a distinct sound in between the two of them, but I would just listen to progressive /symphonic metal bands, and see which ones you like.

I would give you some recs but it's like 5am here, and I have to go lay down.We can talk about it later if you want to.

I got ya man! It's getting to be that time for me as well (9AM is Sooty sleeping time :D)! :heheh: I'm always open to recs! You can always leave some here or my profile. It doesn't matter. I may have a 2011 group you may like as well! Peace! :cheers2

I like this band, for several reasons. First being their symphonic influences and secondly, they have a very romantic appeal in the music and lyrics. Not to mention they have some killer ballads!

I especially like the two album series The Marriage of Heaven and Hell I & II

Part I

House of Dust, an excellent 80's flavour ballad:

Part II

Stand out track, which is an epic ballad, Emalaith (video posted in the OP). Another excellent track:

I like them because they ROCK! (& ..those ballads of their's are pretty cool too )

Hard to pick favourites but I love the two Marriage abums (& the guitar solo's on Pt.I are utterly incredible...), The House Of Atreus albums (some filler but still AWESOME), Invictus, Age Of Consent (EPIC!), Noble Savage etc...they're all great!

The last two have'nt quite been upto their usual standards...but still not bad at all..

More great songs...

Like a more progressive, sophisticated Manowar without all the machismo. Great band deserving of a bump.
