I live in the NYC area and still listen to terrestrial radio. Lately, some of what they've been playing on classic rock stations is anything but classic rock. Here's a couple of examples:

Down Under - Men At Work
No One Is To Blame - Howard Jones
Don't You (Forget About Me) - Simple Minds

Now I don't dislike those songs, but no way in hell are they classic rock.

Anyone else running into reclassifications like this?

Yeah, that's a stretch to call that rock. Maybe pop rock but I still refer to those bands as pop or new wave.

Absolutely not classic rock. I despise all three of the songs.

They'll rue the day they put 80s pop/new wave into the same category as classic rock. Nothing the former can offer will ever be on par with classic rock but I do enjoy a few tunes of that type of music. It's just that it'll never be as good as rock music and a radio that claims to play said music should be ashamed. I hardly ever use the radio anymore for this regrettable reason and just have the aux at hand.

You're close. The Culture Club and Tear For Fears.

I detect sarcasm, for those who might have missed it, but yeah, Boy George classic rocker and legendary front...man (???).
