Yeah there certainly was a lot of sappy BS(Sugar Sugar,"Good Morning Starshine),but this was also the year that Creedence Clearwater Revival really came out swinging, commencing a chart run that had them labeled "The New Beatles" by some."There was "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida_ by Iron Butterfly and the three wonderful BIllboard number two hits by BLood Sweat and Tears from their eponymous album.Blind Faith released an album so good it alone earned them a spot in the hall of fame, while the often snide but wistfully so John Lennon delivered the goods once again with "Come Together",which some hail as their favorite Fab tune. The Stone's had "Let It Bleed' that same year of the Sharon Tate homicide and the moon landing(or did we?)'69 saw Elvis' final number one "Suspicious Minds" as well as "Led Zeppelin II",a monumental moment in the advent of heavy metal, whose "Whole Lotta Love" I personally credit with being the most important of the genre behind only 1968's "Born To Be Wild".Then,of course,Bobby Zimmerman gave us the timeless charmer "Lay Lady Lay",which was glossed over for Harry Nilsson's "Everybody's Talkin'" for inclusion in John Schlesinger's seminal "Midnight Cowboy" movie.(Another candidate here was Nilsson's own "I GUess The Lord Must Be In New York City".........)

"Cirrus Minor".I LOVE "Cirrus Minor".One of the reasons I sometimes almost believe the Floyd emanated from some far off galaxy where ethereal understanding is far beyond that of the average humanoid."Good Times,Bad Times" is one of the best lead off tracks ever, while John Lennon's "Because",which apparently was inspired by playing "Moonlight Sonata" backwards, proved along with tunes like "If I Fell" and "Julia" that the bespectacled Beatle could be just as tender a balladeer as he could also be an effectively brash rocker..........
