i'm telling ya it's the CRTC and canadian content laws that chopped bryan adams' balls off haha. it also explains why the tragically hip has successfully re-released the same album every other year for the past decade. why avril lavinge has a 'career'. celine dion. great big sea. our lady peace. nickelback.

it's all about the suits finding something that scores once and being too lazy to find something else to fill the mandated 35-50% of canadian content required to be aired daily in order to maintain their broadcasting license. at least until the band or artist implodes.

hell i remember hearing about this album bryan adams made out in the carribean with all sorts of traditional island musicians, could be that he was actually making an artistic departure from his formulaic adult contemporary pap. but due to the fact that he's signed to a canadian label and used more than X amount of non-canadian personnel and didn't record enough of it in canada (or hadn't lived in the country long enough that year) it didn't qualify as a 'canadian' album.

and so we ended up with more crap. shit he's even taken to ripping himself off. seriously listen to 'open road' and 'run to you' back to back... SAME TUNE. hahaha

the CRTC did that?!!?!?!?!?
i officially hate them now. any organization that spawned nickelback is run by the devil.

they didn't quite spawn nickelback but their laws basically make it a lot easier for bands like NB to have successful 'careers' in canada.
