I'm going to stick with drummers I have listened to extensively and enjoy. So my names won't necessarily be "popular" ones and a few of them are normally left off these lists. Quite honestly, I never listened to John Bonham, Neil Peart or some of the other "heavyweights" in-depth
In no order.....
-Frankie Banali (Quiet Riot, WASP, etc.)
-Tommy Lee (Motley Crue, favorite example is the s/t Crue album from '94)
-Scott Travis (Judas Priest, favorite example is either 'Painkiller' or 'Jugulator')
-Cozy Powell (mainly his work with Black Sabbath)
-Bobby Borg (did very good work on a couple of lesser known mid-1990's albums by Warrant)
-Matt Sorum (mainly his work with GNR)
-Phil Rudd (AC/DC, his drumming is occasionally derided as autopilot stuff but I like the way he keeps a beat)
-Randy Castillo (Ozzy & Motley Crue)
-Steve Adler (GNR)
-Keni Richards (from the band Autograph, more of a pop rock drummer but exceptionally good with keeping the beat & timing of a song)
