Re: Official Tom Petty Thread I haven't had a chance to get it yet today.. I'll definitely be picking it up tonight or tomorrow though
Re: Official Tom Petty Thread Well...just got done listening to ''Mojo'' and all I can say right now is wow. wow. yeah, wow. I'll just hang loose to see what you all think before I say anything.... but for now...this says it all for me >
Re: Official Tom Petty Thread TP rocks..love his stuff and Groovy Man..I love your sig line my bro..!!
Re: Official Tom Petty Thread ^ Thanks, ThinLizzyFan Here's a great version of ''Learning to Fly'' with help from Stevie Nicks and the crowd... This is awesome...
Re: Official Tom Petty Thread I got a free download of the cd with my concert ticket purchase so I am downloading it now. They are actually encouraging people to send the download codes to friends so I can try and do that if it anyone wants it.
Re: Official Tom Petty Thread Tom and the folks that work for him seem to realize the industry needs to change with the times, some of his marketing techniques lately have been brilliant.. And this just proves that he knows he can't rely on CD sales anymore like they used to be able to... I had to go to 2 walmarts to find the CD yesterday... and the one Walmart had about 70 CD's roughly on the shelf(If I were to guess the number I saw), and they weren't even in any order... they were just randomly thrown on the shelf.. something isn't right about that:
Re: Official Tom Petty Thread Still listening to Mojo for the first time now. I should hold off on discussing it yet because my opinion WILL change in VERY near future, since this is my first time. But so far I think High in the Morning is my favorite. Whatever the case, you've never heard this much guitar on a Tom Petty album. Not even Mudcrutch! Mike must be pleased.
Re: Official Tom Petty Thread The whole album was actually based around Mike's 59 les paul, and supposedly Tom had to sort of convince Mike to come up front and show off I've listened through twice and my favorite is Something Good Coming
Re: Official Tom Petty Thread Yes...Mike Campbell shines on this album. It's his album, as much it is a Tom Petty & The Heatbreakers album... Mike Campbell is a guitar god... most fans knew this already... but, now with MOJO, it's official.
Re: Official Tom Petty Thread I really think the Heartbreakers are getting better and better.. this album still was able to focus on the songs as much as the past, but they were also able to focus on the musicianship too.. all of them, and Campbell especially.. I think as long as people are willing to change with the band, as the band changed, this will be a major, major hit.. like possibly one of they're biggest albums ever.... These guys have been together since 1976 and they're tunes haven't gotten old, and that is because every album is different.. they've been together that long and are still able to pump out something new that they haven't done before and that is possibly the reason I love the band so much.. they keep evolving.. no matter how good something is, there is always room for improvement, and they keep getting better and better, obviously there are two albums that are "duds" for me, but everyone's entitled to a few I guess So this album gets a major thumbs up from me.. everything from the production to the writing, to the playing
