Re: Official Tom Petty Thread
Yes...Mike Campbell shines on this album.
It's his album, as much it is a Tom Petty & The Heatbreakers album...
Mike Campbell is a guitar god...
most fans knew this already...
but, now with MOJO, it's official.
I really think the Heartbreakers are getting better and better.. this album still was able to focus on the songs as much as the past, but they were also able to focus on the musicianship too.. all of them, and Campbell especially..
I think as long as people are willing to change with the band, as the band changed, this will be a major, major hit.. like possibly one of they're biggest albums ever.... These guys have been together since 1976 and they're tunes haven't gotten old, and that is because every album is different.. they've been together that long and are still able to pump out something new that they haven't done before and that is possibly the reason I love the band so much.. they keep evolving.. no matter how good something is, there is always room for improvement, and they keep getting better and better, obviously there are two albums that are "duds" for me, but everyone's entitled to a few I guess
So this album gets a major thumbs up from me.. everything from the production to the writing, to the playing
