Skid Row’s Scotti Hill (born Scott Lawrence Mulvehill), has a birthday. The guitarist is from Manhasset, NY. 1964

A statue of Led Zeppelin's John Bonham is unveiled in his home town of Redditch, England on what would have been his 70th birthday (see above). The majority of the funds for the memorial came from a private donor. 2018

1978 Thin Lizzy released the live double album 'Live And Dangerous'. It was recorded in Philadelphia, London and Toronto in 1977, during the tours accompanying the albums Johnny The Fox and Bad Reputation.

2008 American guitarist and singer Bo Diddley, (Ellas Otha Bates) died of heart failure at his home in Archer, Florida aged 79. The legendary singer and performer, was known for his homemade square guitar and his 'shave and a haircut, two bits' rhythm, which influenced artists from Buddy Holly to Bruce Springsteen The Rolling Stones and U2.

1951 Steve Brookins (drummer for .38 Special from 1974-1987) is born.

1952 Pete Farndon (bassist for The Pretenders) is born in Hereford, England.

1955 Michael Steele (bass guitarist for The Bangles) is born Susan Nancy Thomas in Pasadena, California. She is an early member of The Runaways, an all-girl punk rock group.

1998 Lynyrd Skynyrd releases their fourth live album, Lyve from Steel Town.

1972 - Dion & The Belmonts reunited for one show at Madison Square Garden.

This Day In Rock History: June 3rd

2017 Gregg Allman of The Allman Brothers Band was laid to rest at Rose Hill Cemetery in Macon, Georgia. He died of complications from cancer on May 27th at the age of 69. Along with his family, those in attendance included bandmates Jaimoe, Dickey Betts and Derek Trucks, as well as former U.S. President Jimmy Carter, Peter Frampton, and Gregg's ex-wife Cher.
