Except for only a few songs, I'm not a real big fan of any of their stuff before Tommy. But Tommy was a great record, as was Who's Next and Qudrophenia. The Who By Numbers is another very good album, imo, though it often goes unmentioned and is otherwise ignored by most people. :(

I still have two pieces of Who memorabilia safely packed away up in the loft in my garage- one is a huge poster of them in concert which adorned my bedroom wall until I moved out of the house, and the second is a record store 4' X 4' cardboard promo of the Who Are You album cover which I bought when Capital records allowed swap meets in their parking lot on Saturday nights back in the late 70's.

I figured I'd hang on to it for sentimental reasons, as Keith is pictured sitting on a metal chair which says "NOT TO BE TAKEN AWAY". :wa:

Huh?! Songs like:

Can't Explain
I'm a Boy
Pictures of Lily
Happy Jack
Magic Bus

were enough to make me a fan of the Who even before they released "Tommy".

So odd to see this thread bumped!!! I was talking Pat's ears off today about my newest WHO movie "The Amazing Journey" 3 disc set and how cool it is! :heheh:

Man I love the Who!! There should be a big blow up thread on them updated as well!! They deserve some tribute and flash!!

Probably my all time favorite Who song here!! DIRTY JOBS!!

Yes, it is perplexing, isn't it?

"I Can't Explain" is an ok song but the others just don't do it for me. The only two pre-Tommy songs I really like are "My Generation" and "I Can See For Miles".

What can I say? I'm finicky. :D

^^I have to agree with KMET, I much prefer the later songs by the Who, when I bought the double album "The Kids Are Alright" I was really disappointed.

But I love Quadrophenia, Tommy, Who's Next, and like Who By Numbers, Who Are You. Live at Leeds is a good live album as well.
