My Top 10 Who Songs (as of now):

1) The Kids are Alright
2) Won't Get Fooled again
3) A Quick, While He's Away
4) My Generation
5) Long Live Rock
6) 5:15
7) Baba O'Riley
8) Can't Explain
9) Boris the Spider
10) Young Man Blues

I know it's kind of a predictable generic list but I really love theses songs.

Re: The New Official Who Thread

I'm more of a fan of the early Who than the late Who. I'll take this first group of six Who singles from the 1965-69 period:

I Can't Explain
I'm a Boy
Happy Jack
Pictures of Lilly
Magic Bus
Pinball Wizard

Over this later group of six Who singles from the 1972-1981 period every time:

Join Together
The Real Me
Squeeze Box
Who Are You?
Long Live Rock
You Better You Bet

:drums:

I do like some of the early songs of the Who Fox, but I also think the albums from Tommy to Who Are You, are the best the band ever released. The thing about the compilation album I was referring to, was for every good song, there was a mediocre one, at least that was my take.

I guess I should have posted the interval, seeing the band is still playing now. But I stand by my OP, my favorites are all in there, with the exception of "Face Dances", I might add that one eventually.

Tommy...Quadrophenia...Who's Next > than any single early Who album that preceded them according the LG archives anyway.;)

This is a great thread, I love The Who, sadly I missed them with Mr Moon but that is an age thing, I saw them twice and cannot believe how good they were. Mr Townsend is a legend. They are a great band and my fave track is happy Jack.

In all my years as a Who fan, I never seen the promotional video of ''Won't Get Fooled Again''. John Entwistle and Keith Moon are a joy to watch in this video clip from 1971...

OK, I now have the 8 Who albums from 1965 - 1978. I've listened to a few tracks already and I've loved what I'm hearing, the best so far being one from Tommy, Underture:

No one really mentioned The Who- Sell Out. Thats probably my favorite Who album. I love the radio broadcast feel.

My favorite Who album is their first, The Who Sing My Generation. The raw energy of this record is what rock music was all about. It is one of the most influential rock albums ever released. The entire generation of punk rockers took their cue from this baby!

Listened to Quadrophenia the other night, and it was one hell of a ride. My favourite song (aside from Love, Reign O'er Me) would probably be The Punk And The Godfather but it's hard to choose!
