Re: The Velvet Underground?

I like them. Favorite song would have to be 'I'm Waiting For My Man'. Favorite album however would be Loaded. :****:

Re: The Velvet Underground?

Been putting off getting into the Velvet Underground, but I do like a bit of John Cale

And it's annoying when people get him mixed up with J.J. Cale, or when one is looking for a John Cale album and all they've got is J.J. Cale. Nothing against J.J. Cale (another artist I haven't checked out really). :)

Re: The Velvet Underground?

Wow. This is mi second favourite band of all time (after The Beatles). I just love the first three records with a devotion that is probably insane. Sister Ray is my favourite song ever, and other ones like Pale Blue Ees, Heroin, Waiting For The Man, WhiteLight/WhiteHeat, Candy Says. It's simply beautiful.

I also like Lou Reed's and John Cale's solo carreers. Lou Reed's albums Berlin and Transformer are all-time classics.

Coincidentally I don't know anything aside from the actual Velvet Undergound name but I was surfing youtube and I caught John Cale's GREAT version of "Hallelujah". I looked his name up after and found he was a founding member. I may have to look into VE just because of this.

Really love this tune, just started listening to this band today by a good friend on FB who digs her classic rock :)

I'm glad "Lulu" didn't sour you to Lou Reed, Riff. :D Listening to the first few VU albums kind of explains like why that album turned out the way it did....only not as good as the aforementioned VU album. ;)

Glad to here you're enjoying this band though because they don't seem to have enough fans around here. :)

Lulu was crap but I was always keen to check out his other craft :)
This was an interesting tune. Who was the female vocals??

This and the Nico album do give me a bit more understanding of why Lulu came about, but Lulu was so poorly executed it is a shame for so many fans they have to let it tarnish a good career.
