Happy Birthday Mickey!

Mickey turns 69 today. We share the same birthday. Egads, I'm only 20 years younger.

I just heard that Gerry Goffin passed away. He co-wrote so many great songs with his partner (and then-wife) Carole King, including "Take A Giant Step", Pleasant Valley Sunday" and "Porpoise Song", three of The Monkees' best. RIP Gerry.

Yeah,Tork at one time was a major folkie, just like his future Hall Of Fame fole rock friend Mr. Stephen Stills, who recommended the Monkees job to Tork after he himself was rejected for a role in the NBC-TV project due to "bad teeth"...........

Another member of the Monkees' extended family is gone. Paul Mazursky passed away a few days ago. He wrote and or directed a lot of great films, like "Bob and Carol and Ted and Alice" and "An Unmarried Woman". One of his early achievements was co-writing the original pilot episode of "The Monkees" with his partner Larry Tucker. They both had cameo bits in the episode (Mazursky plays a "man on the street" interviewer in the opening scene). RIP Paul.
