God bless the Kinks,Moody Blues and,of course, the mighty Stones for keeping their rock torches burning so long after their initial 1960's apperances.Sure will be a sad day when the world wakes to the fact that the last of the era's great performers has passed.Kinda like classical fans being around during times of Mozart,Strauss, and Chopin...have been listening to a couple of lost Kinks gems,"Victoria" and "Apeman"....Ray Davies is no less than genius in his writing efforts...……………..

Kinks got screwed out of their place back in the day by being banned from the US while the Beatles and Stones took off.
I've always suspected dirty dealing.

Ray Davies, singer for the group, retrospectively called their first experience in America “character assassination, [a] plot to destroy us”. However, everyone from roadies to tour managers tell a story of general misbehavior wherever the band went. After punching a union official for claiming the British Invasion was a communist plot and skipping a show in Sacramento, the band played on a Dick Clark special for NBC without paying mandatory dues to the American Federation of Television and Recording Artists. That was the last straw; the Federation banned the Kinks from performing in the United States for a period of 4 years, 1965 – 1969. Although the Federation never actually gave a reason for this ban – it didn’t actually matter. The Kinks were out.

Without having watched the video, who will be on bass (RIP Pete Quaife in 2010) and drums?

Does that mean Ray and Dave Davies have finally made peace ?! One of the causes for the sad split was the brothers always fighting and not getting on with each other...and the musical differences within the band. It also happened with the Oasis brothers. It is so sad indeed.

Ray has said that he and Dave have been spending some time together mending fences and that he and Mick Avery have been hanging BUT he has not had both Dave and Mick together in the same room.

This interview. He's very evasive about the reunion.
So counting chickens might be premature.
