I have the two following albums....

Veni Vidi Vicious (2000)

The Black and White Album (2007)

They are different animals, but I like them both. The first reminds me of 60's grunge garage rawk, a la The Trashmen/Kingsmen/Monks. The second has synthezizer stuff and better lyrics. Either way, a decent way to spend 30 minutes or so, :cheers2

Way back when I first came across them I felt the same way. Old school Garage Rock in an updated package.

Now there is nothing wrong with their studio albums, I have them all, But to hear live performances is to understand how good they are. They can put on a show. Pelle has a great stage presence like that old school just a part of the show arrogance or something and a lot of interaction with the crowd. Its great!

The Hives Live from Portland on KEXP

I have heard them say and refer to themselves several times as a Punk band.

Thanks I like that Portland performance a lot.

I love how that Stratocaster cries on the edge mercy as Niklas Almqvist lays down the hammer whaling away on her. Awesome tone bridge pickup only. On guitar they use very few pedals, just the way I like it.
