I was a fan of the Firm from the first time I heard them and I still love their two albums. I listened to The Firm and Mean Business both today. Several years ago I put the two albums on one cd because it is rare that I will listen to one and not the other.
So as I listened to “Satisfaction Guaranteed” earlier, it occurred to me: is this the first recorded instance of Jimmy Page scraping his pick down the guitar strings? We know he experimented with playing guitar with a cello bow and using a theremin but can anyone recall any Led Zeppelin songs where he clearly runs his guitar pick along the strings?
