In so much as most Americans weren't really listening to the Beatles catalog as it was intended to be released until the albums were issued in their British forms on CD in the '80's,Many are still sizeable fan of the American/Capitol titles. The only significantly measurable down side here is the downsized "Revolver".But then on the other hand "And Your Bird Can Sing","I'm Only Sleeping" and "Dr. Robert" do provide meaty backbone for the "Yesterday...and Today" package".I know Capitol was shrewd in its efforts to stretch out the Fab's sprawling catalog of hip tunes into as many LP'S as possible in order to garner as much bottom line, but on the whole, the idea wasn't a half bad one. There is the problem of "Hard Day's Night" and "Help!' containing incidental music from the films, but just keep in mind that at that time in 60's,soundtracks were absolutely HUGE so in retrospect, actually a very sound business move for the times."2nd Album" "Something New" and "Beatles '65" are all strong sets while "Hey Jude",with its collection of previously singles only cuts, may be a bit convoluted since it contains music from different phases of the band's illustrious career, but still pleases as a well reasonably worthwhile compilation.Aside from the music, the packaging of these sorts of things is also instrumental in the sales department. It appears as though there's been considerable effort in this area.

I bought the vinyl edition of HELP! and am glad I did, I was considering Yellow Submarine as well, and I would like Hard Day's Night too that would finish the Beatles for me.

I have a DVD of Yellow Submarine, didn't get the Blu Ray even though MP loves it but eventually I'll probably get the vinyl record next time I see it.

HGH, the packaging is slick, the marketing strategy sound when the labels do this, but it always comes across as yet another 'improved box of Tide detergent" to me in the end.

Slapping a Beatles tag on it will probably ensure it makes someone some money.

Absolutely,Lord Grendl. They have a very certain specific way of re-packaging the music in such sly business manner, they make things appear as if the MUSIC is new or at least different previoulsy unreleased versions of old hits. The latter concept is,of course, what made the "Anthology" sets so wonderful. But like you say, people will indeed keep eating it up,a prediciton at least somewhat legitimized by the fact the "1" album which contained all their British and American number ones was a huge Billboard number one in its own album chart run in 2000.In fact the set moved more copy than "Rubber Soul" or "Revolver" and may have even sold close to both combined. What we need is to get our Beatle-freaky hands on those damn unreleased "Let It Be" session tapes, both audio and video. If Paul McCartney would stop being so damn stubborn about the release of the movie on DVD,they could release it in tandem with the unreleased materials and make a fortune at say Christmas next year.Hey look,if the reason Sir Paul doesn't want the film out on disc is because of the scene where he and George argue and he thinks it would be disrespectful to the man's memory, all they need to do is replace that quick minute or two with any couple of minutes of the hours and hours of "lost" video_Or they could just CUT THE DAMN THING OUT!The rooftop concert not being available on DVD is rock and roll sacrilege!

Did not see the "White" album and Abbey Road. Not versed on the Fabs US release catalog but I reckon they would have been part of the set.

The US versions and UK versions of "The White Album" and "Abbey Road" were the same, that's why they are not included in this set. (along with "Magical Mystery Tour","Sgt Pepper" and "Let It Be")
