The B-52's (1979)
Wild Planet (1980)
Whammy! (1983)
Bouncing off the Satellites (1986)
Cosmic Thing (1989)
Good Stuff (1992)
Funplex (2008)

Much to my shock, dismay and stunned disbelief, I have today learned that there are those who would unashamedly put forth the proposition that Yoko Ono was a seminal influence behind the formation of the B-52's! Well a pox on them I say! I flatly reject their sordid accusations. This band owes as much to Yoko Ono as the Roman Emperor Trajan owes to Roger Maris:

Comments? Suggestions? Complaints?

Re: The B-52's and their formative influences!

I have a few comments for the group... and a question...

What a fun band.. even aside from their hits, I've been listening to a few songs here and there and definitely need to track down a CD I saw in the household CD collection:heheh:

and What are they up to recently?

I don't detect any Yoko influence in the B-52's musically, they sound unique to me and always have.

I have three of their CD's, and when I'm in a party mood they are fun to play.:cheers2

Mainly it's just Rock Lobster ,The Fish noises/sounds (along with the basic melody riff)....I should take a closer listen today or this week.

The spoken exagerrated wordings in places.

Which one? The B-52's released six studio LPs and one EP in the 1979-1992 period plus "Funplex" in 2008. This is their first one and the one which contains "Rock Lobster":
