Yeah The Who were brilliant, just wish I knew then what I do now, I only knew 3 Who songs that day. I think me and my mate ended up in like the second row for that show!

So loud the half the PA dropped out at one point I remember. Bowie on the Sunday after the football disappointment was excellent though.

Yeah the Who were excellent and like you said very loud, Bowie was excellent, my friend was dissapointed with him but I liked him. I was right at the front for The Who it was awesome. The whole weekend was brilliant, I went for about 4 years after that but it is too busy now and not many bands I want to see except Tom Petty this year but I will not be attending:cheers2

Reading & Leeds Festivals 2012

reading_fest_lineup.jpg

Not many interesting bands here, I have seen some of them but not a very good line up considering this used to be a rock festival. I did 3 years at Reading and had a ripper of a time, saw some great bands there but again it is a shadow of it's former self and way too busy so I won't be going there. I prefer some of the quieter festivals with some of the older bands on and you can actually meet the bands and have a beer with them.

The only big one I like now is Download (Donnington Monsters Of Rock for you more mature rockers out there:) ) even that has some wierd bands on some years.

Some good bands there. The Shins, Florence + the Machine, Band of Skulls, The Cure, Foster the People and of course Foo Fighters. I'm a bit envious!

The Cure will be brilliant, been years since I saw them, they are a class act for sure, they will blow other bands away I guarantee you...

Looks very 'Indy', Reading isn't the top UK rock festival any more like it once was, Glastonbury, T in the Park, V Festival, Isle of Wight have all surpassed it, and apart from The Cure there's really nobody there I'd want to see, though who knows - I'd say 90% of them could be generously described as obscure. There's nothing at all wrong with obscure music/bands, after all there's a point in the evolution of any huge megastar band when they were all obscure for at least a while, but it must be tough to sell tickets for a festival with a line up like that...I guess Foo Fighters have a huge following, though I have no idea why. Seems to be a lot of the same old faces headlining these UK festivals these days, I almost wonder if it's run its course, even Michael Eavis (Glastonbury) was saying that he's not sure how many more festivals he's likely to do as it's getting predictable.

Some festivals are excellent, the small ones are the best with some old bands some new bands and a whole load of good people having a great time and a few beers, I have met some really good people at festivals and still keep in touch with them and see them at other festivals. The Horrors are a good band, well they were when I saw them, in fact they were top banana and only had their first album out.

I have listened to their later albums and they don't sound as raw and exciting as their first album, I see they are down the bill at Reading.

Band of Skulls is probably the only band I would go to see. The rest of the time I could spend on bashing the indie kids.

:oyea: that would be something to see, I would round up all those that sit at the front of the stage and talk instead of listening to the music, I would then lock them in the dance tent with all the kids and stray dogs till the end of the night:heheh:
