The Who’s Pete Townshend has confirmed that drummer Zak Starkey is no longer in the band, saying “the time has come for a change”.

It comes just weeks after a series of contradictory reports emerged about Starkey’s status with the legendary rock band – the drummer appeared to publicly confirm in April that he had been let go, only for Townshend to later deny it.

Now, though, ahead of their farewell North American tour later this year, it would seem that the final decision has been made that Starkey and the band have parted ways for good.

Hmmm....as far as I'm concerned its past time the Who retired anyway...loved the band all those years ago but Daltrey's (81) voice is not the same and he's mostly deaf and Townshend just looks silly at 80 doing guitar windmills. ( Looks like my uncle Joe who has more hair than Pete.)
IMHO their last truly good lp was Who Are You in 1978.

The lands of Marshall Stack.
yeah..'bout right Doc- Who Are You was the best 'last ' effort.
Some songs after Moon's death are excellent and a few tracks per album are of note.
I thought Kenney Jones should have replaced Charlie Watts. Daltrey has always been firey..since The High Numbers days . He's scrapped with Townsend and Moon...literally!
I heard Zak called Roger out on missing certain cues...and Daltrey switched the blame onto Starkey. Seen The Who a good few times(Charlton Athletic) being the first!
even when the Ox was stone deaf(he used to watch Pete's finger work on his guitar)...woe betide if he turned his back on thunder thumbs...he lost his place!!
Like the Stones and Dylan...lust for applause has replaced genuine quality of a show.

My Generation has 'windmilled' into their generation .
