They might be pretty Hep but I'll keep mine, my cartridge and tonearm can track anything ever stamped on vinyl, inlcuding the 1812 I posted,,,which has the most amazing groove ever cut into a record.

Many people make that assumption that more power is just good for rattling the foundations, but you summed it up perfectly, at lower volumes a good powerful amp just does a much better job than a lower powered one.

The good powerful ones will sound good at low volumes. Cheapo high wattage ones will sound dreadful at low volumes though. That kind of thing depends very much upon the specific amp.

I did 20 odd years ago - a Quad! The rest of the set-up didn't live up to it though but it was still cool just seeing one. Friend of mine had it but got rid of it eventually. Sadly not to me

I didn't mean to imply that those turntables were the best. Just the prettiest, that's all. But we all know very well that the girl who has the most eye catching jugs can be the least interesting in bed.

Don't ever part with it Flip, they don't make them like that anymore. I would send it in to have new power supplies upgraded and a couple of other things and it will last almost forever.
