Nothing yet, I work in a different city so all the equipment is back home, I am quite scared of losing it or room mates not treating them well

Well, you can hope that your room mates have the same hobbies as you so they can understand.

^^I wouldn't trust my roommates to treat stereo equipment with respect, I wouldn't invest in a good one until I had a place of my own. One of those mini-systems or even a large blaster would be good enough, and if it got damaged I wouldn't lose sleep over it.

Vistas and SLs...

This kid I work with needed an optical cable from his TV to his receiver so I gave him one. He doesn't have cable or satellite but is using an outdoor antenna to get HD reception. From what I remember, reception off antennas are clearer...it's been so long. The last time I did so was when the Colts played the Bears in the Super Bowl.

He's now having a child so he was trying to off his Martin Logan Vistas to me. Had I not have the SL's I would have jumped on them. I hope he is able to sell them to a good home that will enjoy and care for them.

I have a few tos-link optical cables, I always loved the thought of having a 'beam of light' transmitting a signal from my players to my receiver. With HDMI taking over the days of optical connections for home use will be at an end soon, only legacy gear will have the input/output jacks.

Wake Up Call...

Last night had pre-amp on...turntable off. Pre-amp set to -10 volume. Power on the table and I hear a loud thump. Ugh... No damage done but...

^^that is painful when stuff like that happens.


I started installing 2 pair of Alpine 6 1/2" speakers into the Silverado. one in every door. I needed a severe sound upgrade in the truck.


After that its back to the home Audio.

^Nice set of drivers there Jim. I'm sure it will sound great after some break in. Kids nowadays play their music with the bass too loud. I can hear them a block away. Distortion passes for music?
