Here goes...

Wharfdale Diamond 9's

Cambridge Audio AM10 Amp

Pioneer PD 10K SACD player

Are those the 9.2's Sweaty or the 9.1's??

Nice additions all round, looks to me like Christmas came early to Chesterfield.:hab:

George, I would go with Pro-ject if buying a new turntable, I'm even thinking of getting their beautiful new one released earlier this year, $2700.00 which is expensive but it's stunning and has sent ripples through all the high end manufacturers, this TT can hold it's own with $10,000 Clearaudio's for example.

Not that you need to spend that much, their other models are highly thought of as well, if I decide to get another one it will be a Pro-Ject for sure.

^Hi Bruce. Pro-Ject was the FIRST one that came to mind. The Music Hall ones though seem sturdier build wise. I spoke to someone at Music Direct where I have an account and interestingly enough, he mentioned that both are built from the same factory for what its worth. I also have to get a Speed Box which negates the necessity of adjusting the belts when I want to spin 45s. Then there's a dedictated pre-amp. The rep I spoke to was a straight shooter who has 6K LPs ranging from classic rock to jazz.

They are little belters indeed Sweaty...I know Sox was pleased with his a few months ago when he bought them. Wharfedale is like KEF, B&W, Monitor Audio etc., they've stood the test of time and are still here.

Yeah I found out about Pro-Ject making Music Hall's gear a few months ago, by accident. Both are good, but after I'm done selling off my old gear and making room, the money I get will almost pay for the TT I'm talking about that's the only reason I'm even considering it.

^By the time you are done Bruce it looks like you will have a reference analog system. There's a saying "a little knowledge can be dangerous"... Certainly applies to this hobby of ours.

Sweats, great choice on the Wharfies. They are hard to find here where I'm at. The current Diamonds 10.1 and 10.2s are well regarded. Great bookshelves with nice aesthetics.

^^I can't find the Wharfies anywhere except Montreal...there is a store called Auditoyz in Edmonton that says they can get them but they keep really weird hours. I should make a point of dropping in just to see what they're about.

Well George I told Nolo about a year back if I went into vinyl again it would be "all the way", within some reason though.:heheh:

I will just about break even on the whole upgrade cycle when it comes to TT, cartridges, Pre-amp, the new speakers I bought are another matter.

Thanks LG, I was in Richer Sounds again today with Lo, was amazing to see how those staff talk about music. The manager there was serving a customer with some headphones and he said to the customer, "I take it these are a present", when the customer asked why the manager said, "you're not going to use them for hi-fi are you, seriously", the customer had to explain they were for a present and that his son was going to use them so the manager was happy. They do always try and upgrade you and explain why. Got a free mug again as I left mine there the other day. I love the place:)
