Beautiful, soulful, and a great song to listen to at the end of a long hard day....

The Allman brothers above (Live at the Fillmore East era 1971) those 'mug shots' including the rear cover shots of the road crew where used by US Police Departments anti-drug squads for busting the guys!!.

I like the song Six Strings Down written by a musician friend of Jimmy Vaughan in tribute to SRV although I haven't heard the song for maybe 15-20 years.

Alpine Valley
In the middle of the night
Six strings down
On a heaven bound flight
Got a pick and a guitar slung over his back
Ain't gonna cut the angels no slack
Heavens done called Another blues-stringer back home

See the Voodoo child
Holding out his
I've been waitin' on you brother
Welcome to the band...

Found a cool vid of SRV during a sound check in 1986.

This is very cool to just see him playing at least partially off-the-cuff and jamming

I have to add Lou Ann Barton - Johnny Ringo were the triple trouble.

Did you know that SRV and Lou Ann Barton were in the Fabulous Thunderbirds? Stevie played bass and Lou Ann was voc.

Can't tell you how many times that I have listened to this song in my life. From Jimi's original to various other artists doing covers. I have to say, of all of the covers that are out there by some amazing guitarists ... there isn't one that gives me goosebumps the way that Stevie did with this particular rendition.

All props in the world to Jimi for what is one of my favorite songs of his. Amazing piece of work. I have to believe that if Jimi had been alive to see this performance from Stevie, he would have been smiling from ear to ear. SRV was absolutely inspired here.

The audio alone is worth the listen, but to watch Stevie play it ... oy!
