Not a festival visitor myself - as said, it's a young person's game. But if I was, Sonisphere would look pretty good to me this year - Maiden and Metallica - not too shabby.

Complete over saturation in the British festival market. Far too many festivals operating year after year on our little island.

Too many stages at festivals these days as well. Downloads got about 5 nowadays.

I only go to festivals for the headliners - my favourite bands are too big to be anywhere else on the bill. And they've got to be a big deal for me. I know this forum hates Aerosmith, but they're about as big a draw as I can have so I'll definitely be at Download 2014 on the Sunday, did Iron Maiden Saturday 2013 and Black Sabbath Sunday 2012.

I can't help but think classic rock bands should be removed from Download and / or Sonisphere. Allow them to fully cater for the Linkin Park / Avenged Sevenfold / Slipknot fans, bring back a 1 day Monsters of Rock for the oldies.

On a far away island .....
A couple of Sydney’s biggest music festivals are held during the hottest summer weather and attended by a percentage of people who aren’t so much interested in the music as wanting to be seen. Blokes walking around all muscled up and shirtless and girls with barely any clothes on eying up the muscely blokes. I think I’m too old for that stuff now and they really get on my nerves, shrieking and squealing (that’s the girls :heheh:) and taking non-stop selfies.

V Festival in the UK in August, which has had great line-ups in the past, Headline acts - Justin Timberlake and The Killers. Sorry but I am completely underwhelmed by that. Is this an age thing?

I think V realised that the 'rock' festival market was so saturated that they decided to focus much more on the pop side of things IMO.

There's still a few rock acts but not as many. Download and Sonisphere have that well covered.

Just back from Steelhouse and can thoroughly recommend the visit.
Set high up on a Welsh mountain with beautiful views, it's a one stage, 'old skool' fest, no rip off prices on food / drink, packed with good people, who are there for the love the music. Already planning for next year. :grinthumb

Sorry to double post, but I'm over the freaking moon.

Kiss, Motley Crue & Slash are playing Sunday at Download this year. As are Priest but they're on the Friday with Slipknot unfortunately.
