It's alright Tray! You don't have to like all of their stuff and Viva la Vida is the least impressive of their albums to date IMO.

I've always felt, since you brought your love for Muse to my attention, that we were bonded as "Everyone hates our band." sisters. Seriously, I see little love for Muse and Coldplay on the forum so it's good to know a few of us cool kids can count on each other. :heheh:

Sooty's threads: Bringing sisters together! Priceless! :grinthumb

Oh, and Tray, sounds like we had the same road with Coldplay. Thanks to Jen I got a great album out of it and I think the new one would definitely be a happy purchase for you! :cheers2

Avril Lavigne-Push

Been seein' to much of you lately
And you're starting to get on my nerves
This is exactly what happened last time
And it's not what we deserve

It's a a waste of my time lately
And I'm running out of words
If it's really meant to be
Then you can find a way to see

Maybe you should just shut up
Even when it gets tough
Baby 'cause this is love
And you know when push comes to shove
It's gonna take the both of us
Baby this is love
Baby this is love
Love Love Love

It's really great to be with you
This is how I spend my life
But I'm capable of taking care of myself
So if you **** this up than go take a hike

It's a waste of my time Shakin' it up
Goin' out to search if it's
Really meant to be
Then you could find a way to see

Maybe you should just shut up
Even when it gets tough
Baby 'cause this is love
And you know when push comes to shove
It's gonna take the both of us
Baby this is love
Baby this is love

You and me
We can both start over
Just the two of us
We can get a little closer
So follow me
Honestly
And you will see Yeah

Maybe you should just shut up
Even when it gets tough
Baby 'cause this is love
And you know when push comes to shove
It's gonna take the both of us
Baby this is love
Baby this is love

Maybe you should just shut up
Even when it gets tough
Baby 'cause this is love
And you know when push comes to shove
It's gonna take the both of us
Baby this is love
Baby this is love
Love Love Love

I'm an Avril fan. Guilty as charged. :grinthumb I'm also guilty of thinking her last album was her worst. Something about this album really impressed me though. It didn't have any of the angsty stuff from her first two albums at all but it made up for it with one great pop track after another. It's hard to describe how one album and the next could be so much different in maturity but it happened. I mean seriously between singles it's like Avril took a "cheese" grater to her "Girlfriend" song to make the first single "What The Hell". Their is no "Girlfriend" or "Skater Boi" songs on this album "Thank God!" It's a simpler album of storytelling but hooky as Hell. To me "Push" was the catchiest song on there with a more dynamic vocal range from Avril. I love the chorus and how the instrumentation is simple allowing storytelling which is very confessional on this album to shine. Avril is a pop artist to watch as her songwriting is really getting legs! :grinthumb

This was a well above average action suspense thriller. I'll say it and I don't care if I sound like a testosterone lacking nancy boy. Action films are usually the most tired cliche genre their is. Boom boom pow pow explosion cars guns yay!!! This was at a higher level I thought because it seemed like the director was going for a pretty cool visual style and a less is more style in the right areas. One of my favorite things that I remarked about this film was the way, Ryan Gosling, who impressed me and came off as a legit guy for these roles played the character in a cool silent ticking timebomb type way. The role was made so much better and unpredictable that way. The scenes of violence were brutal for this type of flick and I loved it. The cast was great and it's always nice to see Ron Perlman get facetime. Anyway, not a bad watch at the theatre and an action flick that actual attempts something beyond it's genre.

Paint yourself a picture
Of what you wish you looked like
Maybe then they just might
Feel an ounce of your pain

Come into focus
Step out of the shadows
It's a losing battle
There's no need to be ashamed

'Cause they don't even know you
All they see is scars
They don't see the angel
Living in your heart

Let them find the real you
Buried deep within
Let them know with all you've got
That you are not your skin, oh, oh

And when they start to judge you
Show them your true colors
And do unto others
As you'd have done to you

Just rise above this
Kill them with your kindness
Ignorance is blindness
They're the ones that stand to lose

'Cause they don't even know you
All they see is scars
They don't see the angel
Living in your heart

Let them find the real you
Buried deep within
Let them know with all you've got
That you are not your skin, oh

Well, they don't even know you
All they see is scars
And they don't see the angels
Living in your heart

So let them find the real you
Buried deep within
Let them know with all you've got
That you are not, you are not your skin, oh, oh

I love Sixx AM and sorry Crue fans but I've always preferred this group. I don't like the new c.d. as a whole compared to the amazing debut but it was solid. One thing Sixx AM has is multi-talented James Michael who is an amazing vocalist and songwriter. He also produces and mixes so this is definitely his baby. Anyways, this one particular song has a strong connection to me. I don't need to get wordy but this goes beyond a beautiful piano melody and great vocal. If you care about someone who doesn't see what you do then you can't help but feel this song and message. It gives me chills and evokes an emotion response more than most on my list!

This was better than what I expected! It entertained me and was better than part three! It had to be! Anyway, the kills were well placed and brutal at times, the tongue in cheek comedy still fairly clever and the killer or killers or 1/2 a killer or no killer (not saying ) wasn't overly obvious. I laughed in parts, jumped at parts and went "Ooooh man" at parts. A pretty even movie for the franchise and not bad at all for a sequel. :grinthumb This was the one great pure slasher of 2011 and for that it should rank high. :grinthumb

I heard my first track by Sixx:AM last year - Lies of the Beautiful People - and have been meaning to check this band out more since I really like that track. I think the thing that grabbed me and drew me in initially was the singer's voice - as you say an amazing vocalist. One of the things that's always put me off Motley Crue is Vince Neil's vocals - I just plain and simply don't like his voice (sorry Crue fans), so I suspect I will, like you, much prefer this band of Nikki's (obviously I've not heard enough yet to make a fair judgement). I'm not big on ballads but the song you've posted does showcase his voice and it's certainly very moving.

Scream 4 - I've not been too bothered about seeing this. I loved the first Scream and liked the follow up but 3 had me 'meh-ing' big style, but if you say it's better than the third I'll stick it on the list!

Tray, check out "The Heroin Diaries" first. "Lies of the Beautiful People" was a track off the 2011 album but if I was doing a 2007 list I'd be featuring hard rock operas like these:

I really liked that Sixx A.M. track Soots. Thanks for sharing. You have always put a lot of thought and effort into your music choices and threads which makes you one of the best contributors here. Also the fact that you give us new stuff to listen to while still respecting and appreciating the classics has always made me feel more open to express myself here. Keep up the good work boo. :cheers2

Oh, and I forgot to mention that yes, I do love that Florence track but as far as her big hits go on that album I think I've enjoyed Shake It Out a little more as the lyrics are a little more relevant for me.

Are you ready for the Lana album in a couple of days? :D
