Moby-Stella Maris

Moby is a master at ambient sounds and not since God moving Over The Face of the Waters has he had a more gorgeous instrumental piece. This would be the perfect song for a glorious ending for the survivors of a movie overcoming some grandiose obstacle. It screams victory and new peace. No words needed to express any message. Just the feeling that the piece moves you to feeling. :grinthumb

Breaking Benjamin-Enjoy The Silence

This song has been covered so many times but this is my favorite ever and the heaviest I've ever heard it aside from Lacuna Coil. I actually think this one is heavier and rocks more! :D Benjamin Burley is one of the best vocalist in his genre IMO and can do everything from melodies to screams to the dreary tone of this song to perfection. This song makes it sound like a Breaking Benjamin riff and adds some cool touches while still keeping it respectable to the original.

Christina Perri-Distance

The sun is filling up the room
And I can hear you dreaming
Do you feel the way I do right now?
I wish we would just give up
Cause the best part is falling
Call it anything but love

And I will make sure to keep my distance
Say "I love you" and you're not listening
How long can we keep this up, up, up?

And please don't stand so close to me
I'm having trouble breathing
I'm afraid of what you'll see right now
I give you everything I am
All my broken heart beats
Until I know you understand

And I will make sure to keep my distance
Say "I love you" and you're not listening
How long can we keep this up, up, up?

And I keep waiting
For you to take me
You keep waiting
To say what we have

So I make sure to keep my distance
Say "I love you" and you're not listening
How long can we keep this up, up, up?

Make sure to keep my distance
Say "I love you" and you're not listening
How long til we call this love, love, love?

Just to clarify, I don't consider "Jar of Hearts" a 2011 song at all or Christina would place a lot higher on the list. The album was released in 2011 but "Jar of Hearts" definitely played into the year from 2010. "Distance" is a distant second from the album but it's still a good song. I love the melody and Christina has a very songbirdy type vocal as opposed to the rougher, raspier 'Jar Of Hearts". This song is nice, light and fluffy but it builds into a really nice orchestrated part and harmony. Kind of a country tinge there. The whole album was "nice" but nothing blew me away but it still had some "nice" tracks like this. :)

Relient K-Africa

This band did a full album of covers and they were ALL great. The one thing this band did that no one else did is to put an element of fun in every song. Not to say they wren't taking them seriously because Relient K's vocalist is awesome and as an actual singer can add more range and layers than most of the original singers could. They just sang these songs as fans and it shows. I was trying really hard to decide which one to pick and I picked this because the original is really fun and these guys capture the spirit perfectly while giving it a more rockier, harder edge. :grinthumb

Really enjoyed that Immigrant Song cover, Soots!

And wow, Christina Perri! Didn't expect to see her. I agree with you about Jar Of Hearts... Lea Michele's version is going to make my top 50 list just so I can fit it on there in some form! My favorite 2011 tracks off the album are Arms and Bluebird. Distance is so beautiful though, definitely my next in line. :)

Yeah I dug Silvertide back when they were around. Saw them open for Van Halen w/ Hagar. They were actually probably the first album by a modern band I ever bought. It's a shame they broke up.
