Songs that made a difference

I mean in the real world. Are there any songs out there which have genuinely helped to make a difference? For me the one that stands head and shoulders above them all is 'Free Nelson Mandela' by The Specials(written by Jerry Dammers). That song was resonating around South Africa while Mandela was still under detention. It was being blasted out in gatherings at stadiums, with the whole audience singing the chorus. I'm not saying that the song got Mandela released, but it brought huge, renewed prominence to his position, and, I would say, contributed to the final outcome.

Interesting subject. Hurricane by Bob Dylan is one that springs to mind, that definitely brought new attention to the case and he eventually did get free, although probably not because of the song.

There's also charity songs like Do They Know It's Christmas.

Of course in a real world. after all I have been through.. Johnny.. I have strong feelings every time I hear this song..


Of course after years of trying to convince the rock and rollers of this forum.. It's a simple appreciation of music..
