Hi everybody,

So, by now, most people have figured out that I'm a recording artist and a music producer. I started a project called STARFIRE and the debut CD, Eye of the Storm is out everywhere. In order to promote it, I teamed up with a great band here in the San Fernando Valley to play live shows here in Southern California.

Recently, we taped our appearance in Studio City at the Aura Nightclub and the series of videos from our setlist has been incorporated into this playlist.

I hope everyone enjoys the music!

Re: Some original music...

First the formalities Dairren! I moved your thread to the Musicians corner which will give you a much more appropriate response and more feedback! :grinthumb

Now that that's out of the way, one thing I've got to thank you for is contributing such great well thought out posts before displaying your own music. First off it showed you as a true music fan which made we that much more curious about your music because it was coming from a real place. Second it showed respect to us as a forum rather than just someone coming hear to get anyone to view their band. :grinthumb

I listened to all of your music and it matches what you've said about your taste previously. You said you didn't think music was fun anymore so I saw that you guys tried to put on as fun of a show as possible with some funk elements in your music, audience participation and just looking like you guys were enjoying yourselves as well! Real cool! I've also heard you describe guitar solos in great detail and I can see the influence that your favorite solos had played out in "Open" which is my favorite song by you! :grinthumb Thanks for sharing your talent with us Dairren! :grinthumb

Wow! Dairenn, you sure are good on the keys!

Who's Gonna Rock is fabulous......I love the way you work the audience.

Blake, Greg, and Andrew are awesome, as well.

Hey, thanks! I really, really wanted to avoid posting this to a forum where it could even seem off-topic so I picked the most "wide open" forum I could find. As important as it is for me to get my music out there, respecting the community that supports AOR music is my first priority.

Now that that's out of the way, one thing I've got to thank you for is contributing such great well thought out posts before displaying your own music. Most definitely. I'm a music fan and a rock lover first. Even though I'm a recording artist, I didn't even want to use my name--opting for the "STARFIRE" name instead--because the way I see it, when I write, record or perform, it's my attempt to contribute to the greater body of musical works created for this genre in this part of the world. It's not about me, it's about the music. Once I finish collecting the latest Stan Bush records, I'm actually going to be posting a series of reviews about his recordings as well.

Thank you so much; it's rather funny. In pop circles, everyone prefers "Thinking About You," but I get mad love for "Open" in rock and melodic rock-oriented blogs and forums. I realize it's on the long side, and I've since written shorter, heavier rock. But I'm proud of the tune nonetheless; it was my first ever rock song, written on Halloween, 1996.

I could imagine; that is a particularly persnickety keyboard to work with, too. We got far too short of a soundcheck so that it came out as well as it did is an absolute miracle. My in-ear monitors didn't work through the first three songs 'cause they didn't have it up, and the band really had issues hearing the keys because they weren't up on the stage monitors, only in the house PA. But yeah; it's remarkable what you can accomplish for hours and hours of rehearsing, heh. By the time we played our set, we could have done those songs in our sleep.

Thanks for the props!

Thanks so much! Even my wife likes that song, and she's not big into rock, hehehe. You can download a free MP3 of the studio recording from my ReverbNation page.
