That's funny too because when I was listening to the great drums on Tristessa I swear to God I was going to roast you in your thread and ask where Chamberlain was in there! :oyea:

Hahahahaha. That is great. I was listening to my itunes and had it on shuffle and Cherub Rock came on and I said "Shit I need to listen to them alot more and I also need to put Chamberlain into the thread when I want to write more up for it."

I'll do it tomorrow if I do not forget hahaha.

Re: "The Official" (The) Smashing Pumpkins Thread

Love me some Smashing Pumpkins. They've been a part of the soundtrack to my life as a young teenage girl growing up in the 90s. I have my brother to thank for introducing me to this wonderful band. A few of my favorites include:

Window Paine

Window paine
Around my heart
Shadows streak
Around my heart

Do what you got to do
And say what you got to say
Do what you got to do
Yes, start today
Start today

Wind blow shame
Around my heart
Shadows scream
Around my heart

What are you coming to
Stripped down to the bone?
Laughing, living on your own
All alone

Do what you got to do
And say what you got to say
Do what you got to do
Yes, start today
Start today

Aside from the assaulting perfection of the first trio of songs on the album this is my favorite track. I love the slow moving build to this and the heavy slow bass. It's a perfect song that the ears follow like a ritualistic ceremony until it's marching apex. A huge salute to the Pumpkins for the entrancing piece of perfection! :grinthumb

Live '91 Version
(medley with song coming in at 7 min. mark)

I haven't been giving these guys as much listen as I intended to. It's not so much that I don't like it, as much as I just can't seem to get into it as I had hoped. I'll try again when my mind is feeling a bit more..."fresh".

Daydream/I'm Going Crazy

Smashing-Pumpkins-Gish-512210.jpg

My daydream seems as one inside of you
Though it seems hard to reach through this life
Your blue and hopeless life

My daydream screams bitter 'til the end
The love i share -true- selfish to the heart
My heart, my sacred heart

My daydream dream
My daydream
My daydream dream
My daydream
. . .

I'm going crazy
I'm going crazy
I don't want feelings
Your feelings

I have gone crazy
Mother****ing crazy
I have gone

And so the Pumpkins end their debut with D'arcy on vocals in this soothing closer. The soothing closer is followed by the really short hidden track "I'm Going Crazy" which is a little unnecessary but the Pumpkins have never been conventional. :heheh: I always love hearing D'arcy on vocals and it was a nice way to end the album. The little bit of orchestration is nice as well. For everyone who thought Billy was a control freak their are moments like this starting from the debut itself. I don't know too many bands that give their bassist and guitarist their own vocal tracks. So in the end a great closer to a great debut! :grinthumb

'89 Demo Version

Live '92 Chicago Metro Version
(admittedly not the best live vocal by D'Arcy)

Better Live Version
