I just think that sometimes you need a break from something and therefore you end a particular era for a band. When you come back to it as in most things artistic you get to come at it fresh, reinvigorated and with a new perspective on where to take the band. SP has always been Billy's baby so he will always try to take it in as many different directions as he can artistically and to the highest standards! :cheers2

I get that, but if you should wimp out solo, will that not hinder your new perspectives??!:)

If anything I think Billy has a bigger set of cajones then ever. Are you referring specifically to his solo c.d. "The Future Embrace". I'd say that wasn't his best work but it was a cool turn for him. He focused on a lot of cool new electronic sounds and it was just one more avenue of an artist that has the balls to try stuff. As for now, he's doing what he wants to do with his baby, The Smashing Pumpkins, and that takes balls to defy already set expectations.. He's moving on which pissed a lot of fans who can't take creative change. The dude is definitely not a wimp and is making the purest music of his life right now with the creative project "Teargarden in Kaleidoscope". If you are saying it's wimpy due to the fact that a lot of it's acoustic then I guess that's makes a looooot of artist wimpy. For me, I always get to see what's waiting around the corner from an artist who gets to make music under his rules and vision only! :cheers2

Electronics has NOTHING to do with the Pumpkin......Melissa Auf der Maur knew that very well :):)

That's exactly where he wimped out :):)

How's that? Is it just prefernce where you don't like anything electronic because the Pumpkins were never just one thing or narrowed down in any way. Adore was largely electronic and is their best album next to "Siamese Dream" in mine and many a Pumpkin fans opinion. Melissa Auf Der Maur must not have minded their electronic album as she joined right after "Adore"! :D

Tristessa

Pledged your faith
my heart embraced
struggle to renew

Blurry mind
so hypnotized
fast enough who

Wonder where you are
Tristessa

Soul takes soul
as I take eye
I will wait for you

What you believe
you'll wish to receive
I won't believe in you

Hang on to your life
Tristessa

I love you true
Surely I do
I love you true
Surely I do
Surely I do
Surely I do (no)

Do you ever wake up and find yourself alone?
Do you ever wake up far from home?
What you believe
you'll wish to receive
I won't believe in you
Tristessa

Tristessa

As you saw earlier in the thread this song was a single previous to Gish and was the Pumpkins second single release ever. It was not rereleased for Gish though and did not rate as enough of a hit to make it on the Pumpkins "Rotten Apples" Hits Collection but it's a huge monument in Pumpkins rock history amongst friends and is an amazing energetic, frenetic track. The perfect blend of perfect drumming, crazy chugging riffs and one of Billy's most conviction laden vocals! :grinthumb

Dude it is funny you just in a way bumped this thread with that since I was about to bump it since I am on a huge Smashing Pumpkins binge right now and also was about to write Jimmy Chamberlain into my 100 greatest drummers thread.

That's funny too because when I was listening to the great drums on Tristessa I swear to God I was going to roast you in your thread and ask where Chamberlain was in there! :oyea:
