Well I hope this is the right place to put this, as most of what I have to offer is really more in the Hard Rock, Melodic Rock and AOR vein, so if Staff feels fit to move it I understand.

With that said, there are a ton of new bands coming out of that scene as well as older ones that I have yet to see mentioned here so decided to remedy that! :grinthumb

Anyone else with stuff from this scene please jump in!

Gonna start with Coldspell.

Niclas Swedentorp - Vocals
Michael Larssen - Guitars & Backing Vocals
Anders “kebbe” Lindmark - Bass (ex Dalton / RAW)
Matti Eklund - Keyboards & Backing Vocals
Perra Johanson - Drums (ex Crawley, Lost Souls)

Sweden’s current population is over 9 million and I swear every one of them can play an instrument or sing. Coldspell is another one of those bands that was born in the tradition of Hard Rock/Heavy Metal that only Sweden seems to produce time after time. The band draws influences from a mixture of everything they grew up with from the groove of the 70’s to the choruses and melodies of the 80’s, mixed with the raw and naked excitement of the 90’s, and the production expertise of the millennium. They formed in 2005 and debuted in 2009 with their first album, Infinite Stargaze.

Infinite Stargaze is a grower on a similar scale to California redwoods and every spin gets better. A very solid effort IMO and here are some of my fave tracks.

Now 2011 brings us the sophmore effort, Out From The Cold, once again mixed by Tommy Hansen in Denmark. Tommy has previously worked with Helloween, TNT, Pretty Maids, Jorn and Pagan’s Mind and this is pure ear candy to me! If these guys stay together I think they have a HUGE future.

Again here's a couple of my faves.

Re: TUИEZ' Scandi Rock Thread

I am looking forward to this thread TUИEZ. I enjoy learning new bands from other places.

Coldspell sounds very similar to Gotthard, a Swiss band, whom I adore :)

Good idea for a thread TUNEZ, I am a huge fan of most Scandinavian bands. I've heard of Coldspell before but don't have any of their albums...I'll see if I can locate either of the ones you posted.

I love Gotthard too and yeh they have a similar sound Magic but even more in your face than they are. Speaking of which, I hope they can find a suitable replacement for Steve Lee... R.I.P. And not to pick nits but Gotthard is Swiss :heheh:

Thanx LG... finding both of these will be well worth your time!

Next up is Crazy Lixx.

Danny Rexon - Vocals
Vic Zino - Guitar (Loud Minority)
Andy Dawson - Guitar (New Religion)
Loke Rivano - Bass
Joél Cirera - Drums

Crazy Lixx is a Swedish hard rock band formed in 2002 in Malmö, Sweden. They were among the first bands to emerge in what has been called "The New Wave of Swedish Sleaze". In 2007 they recorded their debut Loud Minority with perfect production supplied by Swedish guru Chris Laney. It is a production that could rival that of Motley Crue's Dr. Feelgood and Def Leppard's Hysteria - it is that huge! It opens with the stomper "Hell Or High Water" and never lets up. A fine debut indeed!

After losing guitarist Vic Zino to fellow Swedes, Hardcore Superstar, they recruited new axe man, Andy Dawson and headed back to the studio for 2009's follow-up, New Religion with Chris Laney at the helm once again. Few bands are able to capture the sound of the '80s as well as Crazy Lixx and these guys do it all, whether it be full throttle rockers, mid-tempo melody or heartfelt ballads. Slowly but surely Crazy Lixx are stepping into Def Leppard's shoes, filling the void that Lep vacated years ago. This is exceptional melodic rock.

Just out is Billion Dollar Babies

BILLIONDOLLARBABIES_BAND.jpg

Frankie Rich - Vocals
Jon Silver - Guitars
Pat Kramer - Guitars
Nic Lester - Bass
Robban XII - Drums

If you don't already know, Sweden is the new Los Angeles. It seems these days every new band you hear about in the glam/hard rock scene is from Sweden. Formed in 2005 they have just released their major label debut. If you crave 1980's hard rock/hair metal mixing American style with Scandi melodies then Billion Dollar Babies will be right up your alley.

I will be sure to check into this thread every now and then. I've left a mental note to come back here and check out the videos as well, and possibly jot down some possible new albums that I should get in the near future. Cool thread :grinthumb

Mama Kin.

Ward – Vocals & Guitar
Elias – Lead Guitar
Jon – Bass
Edwin – Drums

One of the best new Swedish acts that I have heard is the band Mama Kin. The band, who take their name from the classic Aerosmith tune, should turn some heads with their rowdy yet amazingly catchy arena style of rock and roll. Mama Kin boasts some impressive skills on their very first full length disc, 2009's In The City. They are a straight forward hard rock band with a vocalist who sounds a lot like Paul Stanley from KISS. In The City is a thoroughly consistent work from beginning to end... great debut!
