Sammy Hagar Says Chickenfoot Is Better Than Van Halen

Sammy said he's disappointed with Van Halen’s new music, saying that the band has lost its way creatively. He also said they took the easy route by re-recording old music.

It's more complicated that Sammy is letting on.

They lost Michael Anthony,,,who was a massive part of VH's sound.

David is back singing with Eddie...which is like fire and gasoline and could erupt at any moment.

And they are finding their groove again. I think if people give them a fair chance, watch the tour buy the album then they would record another CD with new songs.

The key is to get the band functioning again.

Sammy is just being Sammy...he reminds me of Manny Ramirez at times.

Hagar can get bent. Van Halen is back and he doesn't like the fact at least two songs on the new album refer to him.

“I think they chose to take the easy route and take some of their old stuff and and re-record it instead of writing new songs,” argued Hagar. “Who is Van Halen today? I don’t know, I don’t think the fans are going to be happy with it…To me it makes a strange statement, it kind of says ‘We don’t have anything, we’re not a band anymore, we’re not creative.’ Isn’t it a strange statement to you?”

This is exactly how I felt after all the promo songs came out!! Nothing empressive and Sammy of all people may be talking smack about VH, but he does have some room to boast. Even if you compare Chickenfoot I against Tattoo it's still a better album..
I'm going to see some die hard fans who respect the Van Halen Boys as Gods!! That's OK.. It's not about who's the better band here to me.. It's about who hits the hardest with the music they produce..
Once a lover of VH.. I'm now seeing them going through a death struggle.. it ain't pretty and my hats off to them for trying to wring everything out of the name..

Sounds like he feels threatened. Meanwhile, VH say nothing about Chickenfoot and simply get on with it. And the second Chickenfoot album is extremely average by the way and I'm pretty sure Sammy knows it.

I actually like Chickenfoot more than anything Sammy did with Van Halen.

'Course they can't even begin to touch the original Roth era. As for the new stuff, I can't judge that yet, it's not even out.

I think Sammy probably carries a big "Ask me about Van Halen!" sign with him wherever he goes.

Hagar is really quite an irritating person, and despite basically being a rock 'n roll nonentity, he clearly loves the sound of his own voice, maybe it's time they renamed his band 'Chickensh*t' .... fact : Chickenfoot so far made two albums, the second of which totally bombed in most countries, and yet for this he's declaring superiority over a band that has sold over 80 million records.

For the permanent record if the revamped Van Halen line-up could kick out an album that was close to I or II then I would take that over Chickenfoot's records 10/10 times. Having said that, I am reserving judgment until the Completed VH album is in my hands and I listen to it at least 3 times then I will be able to say how I feel about it.
