^^I was never a big fan of Van Hagar anyway Slip,,,I think the best songs are from the early years with Diamond Dave on lead vocals.

So I see no limitation on the set list at all, there are plenty of great songs to choose from.

yeah as long as they play only 1978-84 and 2012 - right?

It's great to see Hagar squirming his way through interview after interview promoting Van Halen, and not only that, he's admitted that a Van Halen show in the same City on the same day will result in Ronald McDonald playing to the sound engineer and dude who picks up the beer cups after the show.

I bet Hagar couldn't even fill a guestlist with Van Halen in town!

i'll say it again what is it with the sammy hate?

a better question would be "what has sammy hagar personally done to deserve the hate dished out by people?"

there was some fantastic music made by van halen between 1986-96 and "its about time" is a fantastic song.
fantastic music from the early dave era too.i have all their albums . and it was the sammy hagar era that got me into VH.

No
unlike the debut, 1984,5150 etc that grabbed you first listen and just got better.

I haven't heard any of the Sammy Hagar albums as yet so I dunno what to really expect from them. 5150 is the first one Ill grab a copy of though.

That whole CD is pretty slammin' man. I think you're gonna like it. Considered to be the best from the Sammy era by many. :grinthumb

He joined Van Halen and turned them into a bunch of *******, talked shit about Dave at any given opportunity. Every Hagar album sold less than the previous one. At one stage, the only band Van Halen would support were the Rolling Stones, and when Dave left, they were one of the biggest bands in the World. Yet 10 years later the mighty Van Halen name is being dragged around Europe supporting Bon Jovi.

There is nothing I have heard from Van Hagar that is in the same league as anything from the Dave era. Dave has attitude, class and an unrivaled legacy. The Dave years speak to me, the 6 [now 7] pack is one of the most consistent back catalogues in rock history IMO.

As for the arguments about who is the better singer, if I wanted to listen to a perfect singing voice, I'd listen to Pavarotti. But this is Roth n Roll and nobody rules these streets at night but Dave!

Van Hagar had some great tunes imo.
1. Poundcake
2. Good enough
3. Best of both worlds
4. Source of infection
5. Black and blue
6. Take me back
7. Can't stop loving you
8. Right now
9. Summer nights
10. Finish what ya started
Obviously not as good as DLR era stuff but, still better than the majority of bands like Bon Jovi for example.

:wtf: Sammy hasn't actually listened to the album??? Personally I make sure I listen to an album in question before I seriously go mouthing off about it!

Ok, this was weird but I was at Whole Foods a couple weeks ago (only go once in a long while to check out certain things ... the only one in my general area is near where I work) and they actually had the ADKOT CD in the checkout line! :wtf: I hadn't been planning on buying the album and I was sort of tempted ... of course I get it that the checkout line is where they put impulse items but somehow I couldn't make that connection between ADKOT and Whole Foods! :heheh: Anyway I didn't buy it that day though I could have ... who knows, maybe one of these days.

I've mostly kept kind of quiet about Van Halen w/DLR because honestly back in the day when that first album came out (I even had the record for a time but sold it to a friend of a B/F I was seeing at the time) VH for me became one of those bands that "everyone else" seemed to be into and I didn't get the fascination. The other problem was I heard that album and the songs on it PLAYED TO DEATH - EVERYWHERE!!! I almost quite literally got sick of DLR VH. No slam intended against anybody into it then or now ...

When I heard Sammy was replacing DLR I became very interested. I thought, cool, I like Sammy and he can sing and play guitar and write songs - he'll bring a whole new dimension to VH and IMO to my ears he did. I bought the cassette (so I could listen to it driving around too) of 5150 and and really liked the album ... I played the heck out of that cassette ... still have it and have 5150 on vinyl now too (thrift shop special) but haven't listened to the album in awhile. I liked OU812 as well ... I did get For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge (all cassettes) but don't remember listening to it all that much ...
