Rubber Soul wins.
The problem with Let It Bleed is the two songs that bookend the album are so excellent that the seven songs inbetween are merely good in comparison.
Rubber Soul. They used to say in the sixties, you either liked The Beatles or The Rolling Stones. I liked, and still like, The Beatles. Rubber Soul and Revolver could have been a double album to rival Sergeant Pepper.
one was '65 and one was '68: virtually light years apart considering in the 60's every 2 years the musical landscape changed dramatically. So the "apples and oranges" phrase definitely applies here.
I chose Rubber Soul just because I have fond memories of that album growing up. Let It Bleed I've only recently come to own the whole album, although some of the songs I've known all my life.
