oh gads! i used to play "Concrete and Clay" over and over again on my mom's record player. then recover from the tramatic experience that i had just put myself through, and play "Things" by Bobby Darin. i like every version of "Baby It's You" including Smith's. the Shirelles version is poetic and represents the epic undertaking--the codependent relationship she insists on having with her promiscuous boyfriend. by the way, the song was written by Burt Bacharach and Mack David. it is so dramatic and tugs at the heart strings. i can't help playing it over and over again, but everytime i return to click the play button the pointer of my mouse begins to migrate upward to "Concrete and Clay"

i just discovered that MetalPriest provided an example of "They Are Coming To Take Me Away" lol! i had the original 45. on the flipside "They Are Coming To Take Me Away" backwards, if my memory serves me right

it's a nice feeling to be passed around in the forum like a newborn and having my cheeks squeezed. i am enjoying the diversity and eclectic tastes people have here. i sure do appreciate the hospitality received from everyone!

Catchy little track, isn't it?

I like every version of "Baby It's You" as well. I had first heard the Shirelles' version, then the Carpenters' (who often recorded songs written/co-written by Burt Bacharach) version, and the one by the Beatles, but I was blown away by the chill style in the version by Smith.

Something else that comes to mind that you might recognize...

Sandie Shaw - "Monsieur Dupont"

Those 60s girls were really something else!
