This morning I was listening to Damon Fowler`s "Devil Got His Way" and track 3 is "Tight Rope". I was thinking that was a Leon Russell song...it was on his 1972 "Carney" album, it says "All tracks composed by Leon Russell; except where indicated" and I know that Leon did cover other artist`s songs but on Fowler`s album C.R. Bridges is credited for "Tight Rope". I did a search for C.R. Bridges and came up empty....Anybody know?

I guess what I`m trying to ask is, If a artist sells his/her music catalog and another artist wants to record a song, do they still credit the writer or owner?

It seems that I heard several years ago that Leon sold his catalog along with several homes and The Church Recording Studio here in NE Oklahoma in order to reorganize a move to Nashville.

No matter who owns a song's publishing rights the original Author is always credited with writing it. If they sell it then you'll see the ubiquitous "courtesy of so and so Publishing company", who own the rights to the song.

Thanks! That`s what I thought...Now I wonder who C.R. Bridges is and why is he/she is credited with a Leon Russell song.

Can't help you with C.R. Bridges Garrett...but it's not unknown for artists to have more than one name when they write songs. Like Stephen King who used Richard Bachman for quite a few of his novels.

Perhaps if you visited Leon's webpage/fanclub someone could help you out.:hm:

Mystery sorta solved....I did a search of Damon Fowler and Leon Russell and I found 3 different interviews and they do discuss his cover version of Leon`s Tight Rope....so I guess the C.R. Bridges is just private joke....

Blind Pig Records <---Fowler`s record lable
