I was s scrounging through my vinyl Saturday and rediscovered this album. Leon Russell has an original vocal and is not afraid to venture into different genres of music. I liked this album a lot but in my opinion, not his best work . Although Tight Rope did very well in the charts. If you like eclectic sounds, also listen to Hank Wilson's Back lp.

Solid lp....my favorite studio is still 'Leon Russell' from 1970....I was blown away by its sound and style in 1970 at college. 'Song For You ' on Leon has been called an American classic by Elton JOhn.
I highly recommend 'Retrospective' ...cd came out in 1997....great collection of his better known songs.
I think people like Leon Russell, Warren Zevon, and Randy Newman.... who get overlooked at times... are 3 of our greatest American songwriters.

I remember “Tight Rope” getting plenty of radio time back in the day.

I bought the single of "Tight Rope" when it was new, and on the B-side was "This Masquerade," later covered to great success by George Benson. There's also a cover by The Carpenters.
