For a R&B/Funk/Pop star? The guy was insanely talented. Could play just about any normal and a few offbeat instruments. As far as I remember, most of his albums (I think he had almost 40 studio albums), he played nearly every instrument on the vast majority of them. He was a true-blue artist and very atypical of any other pop star that came before him or after him.
