Genesis from And Then There Were Three... on (Collins/Rutherford/Banks)
Electric Light Orchestra (Balance of Power studio lineup of Lynne/Bevan/Tandy)
ZZ Top

I almost forgot Genesis for a moment there. The Police were a 3piece too, right?

Let's not forget The Police. Not exactly a "power" trio but Stewart Copeland is a monster drummer and Andy Summers is highly underrated.

The Top 3 Power Trio bands are:

Cream
Jimi Hendrix
Robin Trower

The operative word being "power". I think of the others (ZZ Top, ELP, RUSH and The Police, etc) merely as 3-piece "rock" bands.

In terms of who I think was the most influential trio of all time:
#1) Jimi Hendrix + the Experience
#2) Cream

Favorite Trios of all time:
#1) TRIUMPH!
#2) ZZ Top

Almost 6.5 years later, I stick by this for both influential as well as my favorites.
