Thanks a lot for that post. I never saw that before. You asked what we thought...

I won't get into Opera and Obama and his wife, except to say, that they were very disturbing to me. I don't like phony ass holes.

As far as the performances, I dug it.

- No Doubt sounded good, they had fun with the tunes. I liked them a lot.

- Dave Grohl sounded awesome. I'd like to see him cover Maybe I'm Amazed for real--WITHOUT that broad who was singing with him. She was unnecessary and kind of ruined the performance. She pissed me off. Grohl was great though. Paul seemed to really dig that song.

-Steven Tyler sounded pretty good...But, he needs to stick with the rockers where he can really let his pipes rip it up.

-James Tayler was good. (I'm pretty sure he was the first artist signed by Apple records). But Taylor didn't even get a chance to do his song longer than 30 seconds! They just cut out James Taylor and had that Mavis Staple (WHO the **** is she? I've never heard of her). She sucked hard. That Mavis bitch was a horrific way to end the tribute. That pissed me off.

Overall it was cool. I liked it. I noticed that Paul really seemed to like it, so that made me, and my Paul McCartney man crush, happy.

Yeah, Paul looked very emotional. He looked honored.

Good for Paul. He's the man.

I thought No Doubt was ok, but they didn't move me. The whole tribute was alright, for what it was. Just figured I'd post it.

Wow. That was beautiful.

No Doubt: I didn't particularly like it. They played great songs, so they couldn't really mess it up. But I think that they didn't play their music with enough passion and soul. They did what any Beatles cover/tribute band could do. Nothing really special, just sticking to the original song.

Dave Grohl/Norah Jones: Grohl was awesome. I really love that song but I would have liked to hear him play another one. He was great but it was not the best choice for him. Jones, she was too calm. Not enough passion. I mean, you're honoring Paul ****in McCartney, try to be a little excited.

Steven Tyler: I'm not a big fan of his Aerosmith or anything, but I have to admit I cried a little with his performance. THAT was a good tribute. Great choice of songs, he showed a lot of 'soul' and was the best in my opinion.

Taylor/Staples: Taylor was quite good. I also think he should've played along a bit longer. Staples: Didn't really like her, I dn't even know who she is. But she gave a special taste to the ending. Not the best way to end the show, she was just average.

I also cried a little in the Hey Jude part. That was awesome. That song has a special magic that makes everybody join in and be just like one.

Paul did look pretty happy...to be honest I'm not really into other people doin' Beatles unless it's the Beatles....a movie or something theatrical like that I'll give a pass on...but I'm not keen on the tribute concerts, or performances...but I do appreciate them.

In the end I thought Dave Grohl and Steven Tyler both did pretty good jobs.

I enjoyed it. Thought it was great. Can't confess to being a big fan of either No Doubt or Norah Jones, but that performance was great. Although, as Syd points out, when the songs are that great, it's hard to mess up ;)

But yes, I enjoyed it and found it a fitting tribute to a musical legend.
