It's fun to get into band discussion.......spreaking of this @Magic has been trying to get me into more prog metal and heavy bands .
What are your favorite Dream Theater, Iron Maiden, Queensryche, Ayreon, Symphony X, etc... lps?

Dream Theater and Iron Maiden, along with UFO are my 3 favorite bands.

For DT, obviously Images And Words. A Dramatic Turn Of Events is great too. Start on Track 3 though. Awake and Scenes From A Memory too.

Iron Maiden...The Number Of The Beast, Piece Of Mind...I love the Reunion Era so The Final Frontier and A Matter Of Life And Death are my faves.

For me, Queensryche are The Warning and Operation: Mindcrime.

I'm not into Ayreon, and For Sym X, I'm not a huge fan. I'd go with V: The Mythology Suite or The Divine Wings Of Tragedy. Russ Allen's voice just does not resonate with me.

The thing about Dream Theater's Images & Words is that it's not overtly heavy. It's probably their best mix of prog and hard rock. It's like a modern (1992..) take on Rush's Hemispheres.

Iron Maiden ~ I would start with Seventh Son of a Seventh Son, Somewhere In Time, then proceed to Power Slave & Number of the Beast.

Queensryche ~ start with Operation: Mindcrime & Empire, then proceed to The Warning.

@TACdtf is much more expert on Dream Theater than me, but I sure like Images and Words, Awake, and A View From the Top of The World.
